#GreatDestination describes Gran Canaria (Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO) like a miniature continent that inspires and creates joy. The natural environment, landscape, history, cultural and gastronomic wealth of the island is complemented by a wide offer for exploring its corners and secrets. Sea and summit united in a single pulse, pride for the islanders and a unique place for visitors who fall in love with the amazing weather, picturesque corners and the hospitality and kindness of its people.

The Boxer Sportive 66 Miles – South Lakes Cycling

“THE BOXER” SPORTIVE – SOUTH LAKES 66 MILE LOOP

Come and ride among the foothills of this famous region, now with World Heritage Status. Something for all tastes await – traffic free lanes, remote valleys, welcoming villages, seaside promenades and a breath-taking view over Morecambe Bay to finish.

Your day starts by following the Lune cycle-way and heading through Halton village before a short, sharp climb that gains the quiet road that heads north and towards The Lakes.
Traffic free lanes then lead to a short section of quiet A road through Burton in Kendal and continues over the busy A65 at a roundabout. After a short distance, deserted country lanes are rejoined and then followed around the large Cumbrian town of Kendal.

Your route joins and follows the A road that heads to Shap for a short way before descending to cross the hidden River Sprint and following the remote lanes that lead to Staveley village, with its toilets and our well stocked feedstation.

Once through the village you will head south on remote lanes through several villages and head across the busy A6 towards the coast at Arnside.

You will then turn your back on the coast and head inland through the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that we ride most, to pass through our home town of Carnforth and back up to the surrounding hillsides. Here you can savour the memorable view across Morecambe Bay and the distant Cumbrian Fells before dropping back down to event HQ.

Highland Perthshire Challenge – Scotland Cycling

The Highland Perthshire Challenge

Join us at the Highland Perthshire Challenge for your choice of 50 mile or 100 mile routes.

As always, you’ll experience some amazing scenery, a friendly volunteer team, and excellent refreshments along the way!

The Highland Perthshire Challenge 50 mile route is a more modest cycling challenge. The route takes in the historic Scottish towns of Blairgowrie, Dunkeld, and Pitlochry. It also passes notable landmarks such as the Meikleour Beech Hedge, the Birk’s of Aberfeldy, and lots of famous bridges.

The route starts and ends of Scone Airfield, just north of Perth. The Airfield has ample car parking and toilets. Accommodation, a restaurant and a cafe are available on site.

White Horse Sportive – Yorkshire Cycling

The White Horse is a fine way to end your Sportive Season.

With three distance options, there is something to suit all abilities. From the 26mile short route with one “challenge” climb, the Medium route with some major hills and the long route which tackles both Carlton and White Horse Bank. The routes are all really well designed and though the distances are not overly long there are no sections which are just there to get from A to B. Every mile is on beautiful North Yorkshire country roads with great views, breathtaking views and hardly a car in sight.

As well as the climbs we enjoy some fast and challenging descents and some great sections which are our personnel favourites but hardly known by local riders. The medium and long enjoy a brilliant 15mile section from the White Horse to Osmotherley, roads you won’t know well but will do soon!

Everyone arrives back at the HQ with a real buzz, as we twist through the empty lanes with only cyclists in sight we’ll be lost in what a wonderful route the White Horse is and how enjoyable riding these roads in a Velo29 Event really can be.

The Bealach Mor 90 Miles – Scotland Cycling

The Bealach is the UK’s biggest road climb with an ascent of 626m from sea level in just 10km. It is set in a fabulous unspoilt landscape with outstanding views of the sea and hills. The Applecross Peninsula is renowned as a gem in Scotland’s crown of natural wonders. The idea of a sportive belongs to local cycling legend Clifford Davidson.

The event was first run in the summer of 2006 and it was immediately obvious that had captured the imagination of cyclists of all standards. Shortly after, due to demand, we introduced a 2nd shorter option which also included the opportunity to climb the big one! Bealach Mor retains the original route of 90 miles and the Bealach Beag introduced a shorter distance of 43 miles.

BEALACH MOR ROUTE AND ROAD CLOSURE

144KM

2,100 M OF ASCENT

The route will take you east from Kinlochewe near beautiful Loch Maree to the wide canvass of Achnasheen and its surrounding hills. From there you head south on a fine new road down through Glen Carron to the sea at picturesque Lochcarron. Things get tough now as the road swings sharply upward for the main climb to Bealach-na-Ba. The section of road from Tornapress up the Bealach and down to Applecross campsite is closed for the event.

The reward is great as a massive vista over the west coast and the Isle of Skye opens before you as you plunge down to sea level again at Applecross. The hard work is not over as the next section around the north of the peninsula has hardly any flat as it clings to the coast, past rocky cliffs and sandy coves. Finally you pass through the charming village of Sheildaig nestling in the shelter of its loch and the final section begins. Weary legs will be revived through rugged Glen Torridon overshadowed by the massive craggy bulk of Liatach and its sisters on the famous ridge. Finally, relief is at hand with a gentle descent back to the finish at Kinlochewe.

There will be a timing station at the bottom of the Bealach and another at the top. If you want your time on the climb recorded and be eligible to compete to become the Highlands answer to Chris Froome you must stop and ‘dib’ at both!
